For whom: This is an entry level kayak course for first-timers and beginners. During this class we lay a solid foundation to build upon. We cover a broad variety of topics and make sure to tick off all the basics, such as paddle technique, steering etc.
It is possible to book course A & B together as a 2 or 3-day trip whilst camping out in the archipelago.
Course requirements: no prior experience is required, just an interest to get going with kayaking
Course goal: to be able to confidently carry out your own trip without guide in sheltered waters such as lakes or sheltered archipelago. You should be able to paddle, control the kayak and plan a basic route to ensure a fun & safe day out on the water.
Level: yellow paddle pass
Course plan:
- Understanding the boat’s main elements and how to inspect them before a safe recreational kayaking trip (rudder etc)
- Understanding safety equipment & how to use it
- Entering & exiting the kayak
- Ergonomic sitting position & paddle technique
- Braking with use of your paddle
- Steering with paddle and rudder
- Capsizing and getting to land (voluntarily)
- Buddy rescue (voluntarily)
- Kayaking and traffic
